Make Word Default On Mac

I've just got a new MacBook Pro and want to use LibreOffice as my default office suite, not the Apple suite. At the moment, documents automatically get opened in Pages, which I don't want. I can't open saved documents with LibreOffice either, but I can create and save new ones.
Make Word Default
To change the default font settings, click the small box with an arrow in the lower right corner of the Font section of the Home tab in the Ribbon. In the Font dialog box, choose the default font settings you want. From the dialog box that pops up select the program you want to make the default application (if it was a doc file then select swriter if you want Open Office to handle these files or Microsoft Word if you prefer that). You should be able to find it, but if you can't you can press 'Browse' and search for the program's main executable file.
Yesterday I updated all Office 365 for Mac programs to 16.9. Now all Word docs open in Print Layout, but I want them to open in Draft view. I can manually switch to Draft view, but when I close and re-open the doc (or create a new doc), Print View is the default. Docs used to open in draft before this latest update. If you work with the same folders regularly on your Mac, you can adjust the view options so that the folders always display the same way. This is helpful if you prefer a certain view like List or Column or want your items ordered by name or date. Here’s how to set the default view and sort order for a folder on Mac.
